Beginning July 2024, the Kansas BSRB began assessing an every-other-year $25 "Psychology Inter-Jurisdictional Compact (PSYPACT) Home State Privilege to Practice Fee" to Licensed Psychologists who are authorized to provide services under the PSYPACT Multi-State Compact and have registered Kansas as their Home State with the PSYPACT Compact, pursuant to K.S.A. 74-5353 and K.A.R. 102-1-13. Licensed Psychologists who are practicing under PSYPACT authority, and have listed Kansas as their Home-State, should pay the PSYPACT Home State Privilege to Practice Fee to the BSRB when they renew their Kansas Licensed Psychologist license. Beginning in July 2026, staff members of the BSRB will reach out to any Licensed Psychologists who have renewed their Kansas licenses and are practicing under PSYPACT authority, if they have not yet paid the PSYPACT Home State Privilege to Practice Fee to the BSRB, to assist them with this process.
Background
When Kansas enacted the PSYPACT Multi-State Compact through the passage of enacted 2021 SB 170, language was included in the bill that authorized the BSRB to charge a fee of $25 to Licensed Psychologists practicing under PSYPACT authority who identified their home state as Kansas (K.S.A. 74-5353, K.A.R. 102-1-13). One of the reasons this every-other-year fee was authorized for the BSRB is that the PSYPACT Compact charges the BSRB a $10 yearly assessment, per licensed psychologist who practices under PSYPACT authority, who lists Kansas as their Home State. Rather than charge this fee at both the time of licensure and license renewal, the Board of the BSRB decided to assess the $25 fee on Licensed Psychologists upon renewal of their Licensed Psychologist licenses if they were currently authorized to practice under PSYPACT authority.
How to Pay the PSYPACT Home State Privilege to Practice Fee of $25
Licensed Psychologists may send a check or money order totaling $25.00 to the BSRB office or use the BSRB payment portal on the BSRB website to pay the $25.00 fee.
To use the payment portal, Licensed Psychologists should go to ksbsrb.ks.gov and use the “Services” dropdown to select “Make a Payment.” From this page, click the gold “BSRB Payment Portal” button. Once entering the payment portal, please provide the requested contact information and at the bottom of the page and click “No” to the question “Are you paying an APPLICATION fee.” On the next page, under the Licensed Psychology Fees header, select only the “Psychology Inter-Jurisdictional Compact (PSYPACT) Home State Privilege to Practice Fee ($25).” At the bottom of the page, click “CONTINUE.” Navigate through the remainder of the process to complete the transaction.
