Advisory Committee Recruitment Through Monday, May 26, 2025!

Post Date:05/14/2025 3:44 PM

The Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board (BSRB) is seeking applicants for open positions on six of the Advisory Committees that assist the Board, including:

  • The Behavior Analyst Advisory Committee;
  • The Marriage and Family Therapy Advisory Committee;
  • The Master's Level Psychology Advisory Committee;
  • The Professional Counseling Advisory Committee;
  • The Licensed Psychology Advisory Committee; and
  • The Social Work Advisory Committee.

If you are interested in being considered for membership on an Advisory Committee, please send a letter of interest and a copy of your resume/CV to David Fye, Executive Director for the BSRB, at david.fye@ks.gov, no later than the end of the day on Monday, May 26, 2025. In your letter of interest, please clearly identify on which Advisory Committee you are seeking appointment.

Advisory Committees assist the work of the Board in protecting the public by addressing issues referred to it by the Board relating to the licensing, regulation, and discipline of practitioners overseen by the Board and by making recommendations to the Board concerning recommended changes to statutes, regulations, and possible legislation.

Advisory Committee members may serve up to four 2-year terms. Note: Per the Board’s decision on May 13, 2024, any former Advisory Committee member who previously served four terms and has had at least a two-year gap since their last service on the Advisory Committee, is eligible to be appointed to serve up to four additional 2-year terms on the Advisory Committee. Positions on Advisory Committees are voluntary appointments, therefore no salary and no mileage reimbursements are provided.

Currently, each of these Advisory Committees meet for two-hour meetings, every-other-month (February, April, June, August, October, and December). Most Advisory Committee meetings are held on weekdays between either 10am to noon or between 1pm and 3pm, though the Licensed Psychology Advisory Committee meets the second Tuesday of the month from 6pm to 8pm. Almost all Advisory Committee meetings are held remotely over Zoom, but it is possible one meeting a year may be held at the BSRB office in Topeka, KS.

Advisory Committee members will review materials submitted by applicants, discuss candidates, and make recommendations on new members during a public meeting. Advisory Committee members will consider different characteristics of applicants, including levels of licensing; fields of practice, noting whether applicants are in public practice, private practice, educational settings, or other settings; whether the Advisory Committee includes practitioners located in different regions of the state; and other factors. A list of current Advisory Committee members and information on recent meetings is located on the BSRB website at https://www.ksbsrb.ks.gov/about-us/advisory-committees/ or by clicking the webpage for the specific Advisory Committee. The Advisory Committee Policy is posted to the BSRB website at https://www.ksbsrb.ks.gov/resources/policies/  Additionally, since January 2021, over 200 Board and Advisory Committee meetings have been streamed live and are archived on the BSRB YouTube Channel and may be viewed at https://www.youtube.com/@kansasbehavioralsciencesre8714/streams
